The 79th Italian Open took place at Marco Simone from September 15th to 18th, 2022. It was an exhilarating edition graced by the presence of golf’s top champions, building anticipation for the Ryder Cup 2023. It was an emotion to have champions like Rory McIlroy, Viktor Hovland, the European 2023 Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald and many more at Marco Simone.

The Scottish golfer Robert MacIntyre clinched the 79th Italian Open title, triumphing over Englishman Matthew Fitzpatrick, the 2022 US Open Champion, in a playoff at the first hole.
For Robert MacIntyre, Sunday was a fairytale come true: starting three shots behind the leaders, he concluded with an impressive fourth round of 64 strokes (7 under par), compelling Fitzpatrick to secure a birdie on the 18th hole to force the playoff. However, it only took one hole to determine the champion, as MacIntyre sealed the victory with a birdie.
Flavio Michetti, the young golfer raised at Marco Simone, received the DS award as the best amateur. We are super proud of him.
